SUMMARY

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – A small plane had a bad takeoff at Langley Airport on Tuesday just after 10 a.m.

Surrey RCMP says the pilot, the only person on board, lost control of the Cessna 172 and veered into a ditch. They weren’t hurt and there’s very minor damage to the plane.

@TSBCanada says pilot was a student of Langley Flying School. Was flying a Cessna 172 solo, under supervision. Student landed, requested another take off, but then aircraft veered off the runway, into a ditch and struck a berm. TSB following up w/ school, airport & mounties

The Transportation Safety Board is not investigating because “this is as minor as it can be.” But it says the pilot was a student at the Langley Flying School.

The student was doing a solo exercise, under supervision and had landed and requested another takeoff. The aircraft then veered off the runway into a ditch and struck a berm. The TSB says it will be following up with the school, airport and the RCMP.
