WESTJET READY TO BRING CANADIANS HOME FROM PANAMA

WestJet has added a repatriation flight from Panama City (PTY), Panama to Toronto (YYZ), Canada to return Canadian citizens home on Saturday, April 11. The flight is scheduled to depart Panama City at 2 p.m. local and arrive in Toronto at 8:28 p.m. local.
In collaboration with the Government of Canada, WestJet’s fifth repatriation flight from Panama City, Panama (WS3909) on a Boeing 737-800 is available for booking on westjet.com now.
Saturday’s flight is in addition to the four flights that WestJet is operating including two flights from Port of Spain (POS), Trinidad and Tobago along with flights from Havana (HAV), Cuba and San Salvador (SAL), El Salvador. Altogether these flights will carry approximately 900 citizens home.
“I am proud to be a Canadian and a WestJetter and it meant a lot to me to be able to assist in getting fellow Canadians home in the midst of a global crisis,” said Koko Gillis, WestJet Captain who has been involved in WestJet repatriation efforts. “This is an event that I don’t think any of us will forget in our lifetime and the opportunity to participate was never a tough choice to make. I’m grateful for the opportunity and ready to go again when needed.”
These flights are part of WestJet’s efforts to care for Canadian citizens after the suspension of international service due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to repatriation, WestJet is keeping critical economic lifelines open in Canada through continued operations to all the cities it currently serves at a reduced frequency.

“There was a lot of emotion when we boarded in Havana and everyone was pretty happy when we arrived in Toronto. I’m just glad we could get these people home where they belong.”
