From WestJet
WESTJET ADDS CANADA-BOUND FLIGHTS FROM GUATEMALA, PORT OF SPAIN AND CARRIES CANADIANS HOME FROM PANAMA
WestJet, in collaboration with the Government of Canada, has added two more repatriation flights to return an additional approximately 300 Canadian citizens home from these areas. Flights are available for booking on westjet.com now.
- Tuesday, April 14 from Port of Spain (POS), Trinidad and Tobago to Toronto (YYZ), Canada on WestJet’s 737-800
- Friday, April 17 from Guatemala City (GUA), Guatemala to Toronto (YYZ), Canada on WestJet’s 737-800
Today, WestJet also brought home 127 Canadians from Panama City (PTY), Panama to Toronto (YYZ), Canada. This will be WestJet’s fifth repatriation flight in partnership with the Government of Canada, altogether returning more than 1,000 Canadians.
“WestJet is thankful to the Government of Canada for their support and assistance in adding flights to areas like Panama City where Canadians are eager to get home to their families,” said Ed Sims, WestJet President and CEO.
WestJet thanks its flight and cabin crews and the agents at the airports, all of whom are committed to continuing to serve Canadians, along with our network team, mechanics and flight dispatchers who are keeping us safely flying.
These flights are part of WestJet’s efforts to repatriate Canadian citizens after the suspension of international service due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to repatriation, WestJet is keeping critical economic lifelines open in Canada through continued operations to all the cities it currently serves at a reduced frequency.
