Air passenger rights advocate to testify about airline refunds and the collapse of consumer protection.
WHAT: Dr. Lukács will be testifying before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities to urge lawmakers to pass declaratory legislation to restore consumer confidence and put an end to the Canadian Transportation Agency’s conduct.
WHY: At least 3,870,000 passengers are affected by Canadian airlines’ refusal to refund flights the airlines themselves cancelled. Instead of protecting consumers, the Canadian Transportation Agency mounted a disinformation campaign on Twitter and on its own website to mislead the public to believe that airlines can provide an I-owe-you instead of refunds.
WHERE: Online on ParlVu
WHEN: Dr. Lukács will be providing testimony on December 8, 2020 at 15:30 (ET).
