Air Canada’s Aeroplan extension to our temporary pause of Aeroplan points expiry.

The inactivity policy was placed on hold during the pandemic to help members out who were not necessarily earning points while at home.  Aeroplan also made our inactivity policy more flexible during the pandemic, increasing it to 18 months in advance of the Aeroplan program relaunch.

While many of our members are back to travelling and or have engaged with our exciting everyday partners like Starbucks, Uber, and Uber Eats, we recognize that this is not necessarily the case for everyone just yet.

Today, Aeroplan have extended our pause on expiry of points until May 31, 2023 – meaning that between now and May 30, 2023, any Aeroplan points which would have expired will not.  Effective May 31, 2023, our normal expiration policy will once again apply meaning points will expire if an eligible transaction has not been completed within the 18 months prior to this date.

We want our members to remain active in the Aeroplan program and have several ways to check to make sure they’re not at risk of having their points expire:
