Good news for snowbirds eager to escape to the sunshine state this winter, Sunwing is expanding its services to Florida to offer flights to Daytona Beach from Toronto for the first time. Sunwing will be the only Canadian carrier to offer direct international flights to this exciting destination. The twice weekly seasonal flight service will operate on Mondays and Thursdays beginning January 28, 2019.
Offering a perfect blend of dining, sports and entertainment together with beautiful beach settings, Daytona Beach caters to all types of travellers. Racing fans can visit the famous Daytona International Speedway to see some of the best drivers in the world compete. While those seeking some peace and quiet can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk and pier or the renowned Daytona Beach—a 37km stretch of sand that includes some stretches vacationers can drive on. In addition, there are plenty of options for shopping to take advantage of and avid golfers can head to one of the many top-rated courses in the area for some tee-off time.
Vice President of USA and Cruises, Reg Mendes, explained that the move to expand services to Florida this coming winter was a result of consumer demand, “Our flight services to Florida have been consistently well received so we’re delighted to be able to add this popular destination. Daytona Beach is a great option for those seeking anything from excellent dining and shopping to beach escapes.”
Airport Director for Daytona Beach International Airport, Rick Karl, also commented on the news, “Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) is thrilled to welcome Sunwing to our community. With non-stop flights to and from Toronto, the new air service will provide improved access to our community’s top international travel market and bring international airline service to DAB for the first time in over twenty years. We look forward to growing our partnership for years to come.”
